3. What are the school hours?
a. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:10. School dismisses at 3:10 p.m. The Kindergarten Program is a full day program.
4. Is there a Before and After School Program?
a. There is before and after school care for our students who must arrive early and stay late. Hours are 6:30 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. and after school until 5:30 p.m. On 11:30 dismissal days there is no after care. There is a $20 registration fee. Cost of care is:

b. We also provide a Summer Care program to cover all the summer days except for July 4th. This program will also be offered during Christmas and Easter break.
5. Is there a dress code?
a. Yes, we expect our students to dress appropriately at all times. Included with this brochure is a copy of our handbook page regarding dress code. Recycled uniforms are also sold at the end of each school year.
6. What is the student/teacher ratio?
a. The ratio varies from class to class with the average class size at approximately 20 students.
7. How many faculty are on staff?
a. There are 16 faculty members on staff at St. Aloysius which includes one classroom for each grade level, Art, Music, P.E., Technology, and Learning Disabilities/Resource. In addition, we have a counselor one day a week. Our staff members are certified teachers and follow the public school guidelines for professional development plans.
8. Will my child go to Mass during the week?
a. All-School Masses are held each Tuesday, First Friday of the month as well as on Holy Days.
9. Who teaches the religious curriculum?
a. Religion is taught by the individual classroom teachers. Prayers are recited daily at all levels.
10. Is there a hot lunch program?
a. Yes, St. Aloysius School provides a hot lunch program. The cafeteria is located in the hall below the church. Cost of an individual lunch is $2.25, milk included. Meal tickets are also available:

b. Free and reduced lunches are also available through the federal government program. All information is kept confidential.
11. Is there more than one lunch shift?
a. Yes, St. Aloysius has three lunch shifts
i. 11:00 (Grades PreSchool-2)
ii. 11:30 (Grades 3-5)
iii. 12:10 (Grades 6-8)
b. Time on the playground is combined with the lunchtime so as to total 45 minutes except for the last shift which is approximately 30 minutes long. Each shift is on the playground by themselves without the older students mixing in with the younger.
12. Will I have an opportunity to volunteer at the school?
a. Yes, St. Aloysius offers a number of opportunities to volunteer. This opportunity sheet is included in the registration packet.
13. How will I know what is going on at the school?
a. You will receive a calendar at the Open House in August, which includes all major activities for the year. The Principal also sends home a Wednesday newsletter each week which is also included on the website. In addition, teachers will send home informational notes apprising you of classroom activities/happenings.
14. When must my child have a physical exam?
a. Law requires that all incoming Kindergarten and 6th grade students have a physical exam and must be properly immunized. Failure to do so results in the exclusion of that student from school after October 15 each year until compliance.
15. What kind of extra-curricular activities are available?

16. Are there support programs to help my child if he/she is struggling in school?
a. The Title 1 Reading/Math Program is available on site for students in grades 1-5 who struggle with these subjects. Students meet with the Title 1 teacher from 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. each day.
b. Our learning disabilities teacher schedules students with an IEP during the regular school day and she also is available, when time allows, to serve as resource teacher for those who need extra help.
c. A number of our teachers also tutor after school.
17. How well have students tested on standardized tests?
a. St. Aloysius School is consistently above the national norm. (Terra Nova)
18. May I visit my child’s classroom?
a. Parents are always welcome to visit the school. In order to avoid disruption of classes, making arrangements ahead of time with the teacher is requested. In order to allow for adjustment to school, please allow a few weeks after the start of a new year.
