Philosophy of Education
We believe that the parents have the primary responsibility in the education of their child. It is they who set the attitudes and values and give real meaning to Christian education in the schools. After the parents have freely entrusted their child to the Catholic school, it is their right and duty to assist the school by their cooperation and support according to their abilities.
We believe that the child is a unique person and has definite basic relationships to God, to his/her fellow men and women, to nature and to self. Through his/her interaction with ideas, people and things in the total school environment, the child's basic potential, spiritual, moral, intellectual, cultural and physical is developed and strengthened.
We believe that Saint Aloysius School's primary responsibility to the child, his/her home and society is to form totally prepared Christians. Through both the teachers and curriculum, the school is a place of discovery which opens new avenues of learning stimulating critical and creative thinking, fostering clarification of personal values and promoting the child's awareness of his/her place in the redemptive plans as a force for good.
We believe the community works with the parents and school to promote further enrichment and growth and should help each child become aware of his/her civic responsibilities.
We believe that the school is an instrument of the Church. Hence, the atmosphere in the school should be that of a faith community enlivened by the gospel spirit of freedom and clarity.
Objectives
We believe the parents, child, school, community and church all share in the responsibility of Christian education. As teachers, we are totally committed to this responsibility to fully develop the spriritual, moral, intellectual, cultural and physical potentialities of each person.
Therefore, we the teachers of the school, will strive to:
-
Encourage and support the parents in their role as they lay the foundation of Christian living.
-
Treat each child as a unique person as his/her potential unfolds through the learning experiences we help to provide.
-
Teach the child to develop and clarify his/her personal values in an evolving environment.
-
Make full use of the community resources - cultural, recreational and civic.
-
Be active in community affairs and be responsive to the needs and happenings in the community.
-
Be active in our parish church by not only accepting the Christian message but acting on it, witnessing as individuals and a community to all that Jesus said and did.
